“we believe a single breath can transform a moment.”

Most of us know that our brain is responsible for the way our body functions and how it helps to create our thoughts and determine our actions. We also know that without our brain, it would be very difficult to carry out these important tasks. In fact, some would argue that our brain is the most important organ in our body.

At UB.U, we believe exploring how the brain works creates greater awareness and develops resilience. Understanding how all parts of the brain work together to create an experience, encourages acceptance of feelings and emotions - all different kinds. This knowledge about the brain gives students a greater understanding of how their body works during stressful situations.

Like any other muscle in the body, the brain needs to be strengthened. It also needs to rest. UB.U students explore how mindfulness of breath can strengthen areas of the brain to create better focus, increase empathy and nurture more appropriate responses to stressful situations.

When we practice mindfulness, we learn how to create space. During this moment of awareness, we believe naming and feeling our emotions is more important than avoiding or brushing them away.
